Reports are stating that in 2018 Delta Airlines will replace Microsoft Surface tablets and Lumia 1520 smartphones with Apple’s iPhone and iPad Pro.
Starting in 2018, Delta Airlines will make the change over from using Microsoft Lumia 1520 smartphones and Microsoft Surface tablets, in exchange for Apple devices. Currently, the airline company supplies its flight attendants with the Microsoft Lumia 1520 handset, and its pilots are supplied with Microsoft Surface tablets.
The change in 2018 will bring in Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus for Delta’s 23,000 flight attendants to use as flight manuals, onboard customer service, and in-flight point-of-sale use. For Delta’s 14,000 pilots, Apple will provide its 10.5-inch iPad Pro which will be used in the flight deck as an electronic flight bag, and will be downloaded with Delta’s suite of tools for the pilot crew easy access, which will include “the Jeppesen Flight Deck Pro for flight planning, and the most recent version of Delta’s turbulence app – the Flight Weather View Plus, and a content library containing detailed aircraft and procedural manuals.”
Delta will also continue to maintain a strong relationship with Microsoft by continuing to use some of its customer service-oriented apps which are “powered by Microsoft Dynamics.”
