“Foxconn insider” reportedly posts camera samples from the Sharp Aquos S2

In China, a Weibo account belonging to Luo Zhongsheng, a senior vice president of Foxconn Technology Group, reveals photographs that allegedly came from the soon to be unveiled Sharp Aquos S2. More on that in a second. Images of the handset itself show a stunning edge-to-edge screen that resemble some of the renders that have been leaked for the Apple iPhone 8. Two to three different variants of the S2 are expected.

Model number FS8016, rumored to be priced at the USD equivalent of $ 519, will carry a 5.5-inch display with a 1080 x 2048 resolution. Powered by the Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6GB of RAM is inside along with 128GB of expandable native storage. A dual-camera setup (12MP + 8MP) will be found on back. The FS8010, expected to be sold at the USD exchange rate of $ 401, is equipped with the same specs, but uses a Snapdragon 330 SoC under the hood. With these new units, Sharp seemingly was able to do something that has so far eluded both Samsung and Apple; the company says that it has embedded its fingerprint scanner under the front display.

A third model has recently surfaced. This is the flagship model of the Sharp Aquos S2 series that allegedly offers a 5.5-inch display with a 2160 x 3840 resolution (UHD). We assume that an appropriately high powered chipset will be used on this phone, which is expected to be introduced this Tuesday, August 8th. None of the three handsets is due to make it through to Western shores.

Now let’s return to the Weibo page containing photos said to be snapped by one of the Sharp Aquos S2 models. If we didn’t tell you about the dual-camera setup, it might be obvious to you when you view the photo of the two employees wearing Sharp patches on their shirts. The “bokeh” effect is quite pronounced on the foreground of the picture, with the blur on the patch itself. The patch on the employee standing in back of her can be read perfectly. Another picture shows some kids looking down at the camera while making a star effect with their fingers. Note how the faces are blurred while the sky above is in focus.

It seems that Sharp has touched all the bases with the Aquos S2, and we are looking forward to hearing more about the different variants of the phone starting early next week. Check out all of the images by clicking on the slideshow below!
