The first season of Issa Rae’s excellent HBO comedy Insecure will be available for non-subscribers on HBO Go and YouTube for 24 hours, starting at 6AM ET on July 23rd.

The show’s season 1 premiere was also posted on HBO’s website for free for a brief period, and Issa Rae uploaded it to her personal YouTube channel permanently. The half-hour dramatic comedy, which follows best friends Issa and Molly (Yvonne Orji) around Los Angeles and through the dozens of specific trials of approaching the end of their 20s, was loosely inspired by Rae’s web seriesAwkward Black Girl. That series is also available in its entirety on YouTube, if you want to binge it as a reference point before you binge this show.

The first season of Insecure was met with unanimouscriticalacclaim, and seems to be part of a trend of HBO sifting through popular web series when looking for new original content. The network debuted an adaptation of Vimeo’s High Maintenance a month before the premiere of Insecure, and it’s currently in the process of adapting Fatimah Asghar and Sam Bailey’s OpenTV series Brown Girls.

The second season of Insecure starts at 10:30PM ET on July 23rd, so you probably have time to binge the first season a few times all the way through if you do decide to wake up at 6AM. I don’t know, a Sunday mimosa party with some IRL pals and Molly and Issa sounds great to me. Honestly I have access to an HBO account, but the interface is so bad that I might take advantage of this anyway.
