This Easter Egg Was Too Weird for The Cloverfield Paradox

It WOULD have been cool.

J.J. Abrams, the mastermind behind The Cloverfield Universe, has revealed a sneaky Easter Egg that was cut from The Cloverfield Paradox for being simply, well, too weird.

Speaking on Empire’s podcast (via Heroic Hollywood), Abrams said that Howard Stambler’s (John Goodman) truck, heavily featured in 10 Cloverfield Lane, was originally going to make a cameo.

“During the spacewalk sequence and all this debris is flying around,” said Abrams. “There was a truck that was going around. And it was from 10 Cloverfield Lane, it was Stambler’s truck. But it was one of those things that once again, some people called it out as being too crazy, I loved it, because I thought it was just so bonkers, but some people felt it was too distracting, I thought it was amazing.”

We called The Cloverfield Paradox too predictable in our review, but it’s still very interesting to see how it ties the whole Cloverfield universe together. Abrams also recently went on record about Cloverfield 4, calling it a “really crazy movie.”
