The technology is there for fast-charging, but the accessories sold alongside the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X models don’t support it. In order to charge your new-model iPhone at fast-charging speeds, you’ll need accessories sold alongside the USB-C MacBook and MacBook Pro models.
That means you’ll need one of Apple’s 29W, 61W, or 87W power adapters, along with the right USB-C to Lightning cable. Your least expensive option right now is the 29W USB-C power adapter for the MacBook, priced at $ 49.
You’ll also need the USB-C to Lightning Cable, which begins at $ 25 for a one-meter cable. That brings the total to at least $ 74 to add fast-charging capability to your iPhone 8, 8 Plus, or X.
